Business leaders back campaign for public to leave 10% of their estate to charity.Sir Richard Branson, Charles Dunstone, the co-founder of Carphone Warehouse, and Jacob Rothschild, the patriarch of the Rothschild family, have proposed to give away 10% of their estates to charity in their Wills.
They are among leading business people who have signed up to the Legacy10 initiative, a campaign to encourage the public to leave 10% of their wealth to charity, after taking care of family and friends.
Rob Cope, director of Remember A Charity, said: "Anyone who leaves 10% of their estate to charity can reduce their inheritance tax bill from 40% to 36% from 6 April 2012.
"But legacy giving isn't just for business billiionaires. If we all left just a small amount to our favourite charities in our Will, we could make a big difference."
