“Until AvMA stepped in and offered their services we were fighting alone. AvMA shone a light in some very dark corners. We are eternally grateful.”
AvMA is the UK charity for patient safety and justice. We support and empower people harmed by failures in patient safety to get justice, and promote safer healthcare for all. At the core of our work is the unique, specialist advice and support we provide through our helpline, casework and inquest support services to people who have suffered avoidable harm.
Our wide range of online self-help guides contains clear, straightforward guidance on making a complaint, coping with an inquest, instigating disciplinary action or making a legal claim for compensation. Written by legal and medical experts, they guide you step by step through the information.
We also campaign to improve patient safety, access to justice and how patients and loved ones are dealt with when something goes wrong. We led the campaign for a statutory duty of candour and continue to be the leading patient voice on patient safety and justice issues.
We are completely independent and rely on volunteers, fundraising and generous donations from supporters to enable us to help patients and bring about change.
Your legacy can help people harmed by failures in patient safety to get advice, support and justice.
