Funding research into secondary breast cancer.
The ultimate goal of Against Breast Cancer is to prevent secondary spread, which is the main cause of breast cancer related deaths.
We fund ground-breaking research to improve detection, treatment and to increase survival after diagnosis.
We are researching new treatments. Treatments that target all types of secondary breast cancer cells before they have the chance to grow into tumours – wherever they may be in the body.
Earlier detection saves lives. We envisage a future where a blood or urine home test is available for people to monitor themselves for breast cancer and secondary spread.
We recognise the need for solid, evidence-based advice on diet and lifestyle factors that reduce the risk of secondary spread occurring. We funded the creation of the largest collection biological and lifestyle data taken from breast cancer patients in the UK. This unique resource allows the study of dietary, lifestyle and biological differences between breast cancer patients in the UK who develop secondary spread and those who do not.
