Painshill is one of the finest English Landscape Gardens in the world. It was designed in the 18th century as a living canvas with stunning views and follies including a sparkling Crystal Grotto, a Serpentine lake, a waterwheel and woodland areas. has received international recognition and remains a significant part of our national heritage.

The garden was lost after the Second World War, then rediscovered in the 1960s. Since 1981, Painshill Park Trust has been painstakingly restoring the landscape and follies. However, there remains much work still to do.

Our activities include: managing and conserving the award-winning landscape; restoring the garden buildings; running a volunteer programme and providing educational activities for thousands of school children each year.

Our volunteers are a key part of our team, helping to maintain the landscape and ensure that Painshill can be enjoyed by all. We were awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service and our volunteers feel part of a family.

Painshill provides the community with 158 acres to enjoy nature, and to exercise.

“Without Painshill my wife and I would be much poorer both spiritually and with fitness.”

Gifts in Wills to help protect and preserve Painshill for future generations.
