4/5 Pavilion Buildings, Brighton, BN1 1EE
Royal Pavilion & Museums is the custodian of the historic buildings, art and artefacts that tell the story of over 1million years of life in Brighton & Hove.
We are responsible for five historic buildings:
The Royal Pavilion – the exotic pleasure palace of George IV is the UK’s only royal palace in public ownership. It has become the internationally recognised symbol of Brighton.
Brighton Museum & Art Gallery – through our diverse collections and galleries we tell global stories seen through Brighton eyes.
Booth Museum of Natural History – this fascinating Victorian museum houses nearly one million birds, butterflies and beasts. It was the first to use dioramas to bring its animals to life.
Hove Museum – this “museum of making” focuses on crafts and creative skills. Upstairs, the toy collection in the ‘Wizard’s Attic’ has been enchanting visitors young and old for generations.
Preston Manor – this charming historic house gives an insight into life in an Edwardian manor for those both upstairs and downstairs. It is rumoured to be Brighton’s most haunted building.
With your help we can protect over two million objects that represent Brighton and Hove’s history and put on exhibitions and displays to inspire, educate and entertain our visitors.
George IV’s legacy inspired a city. By preserving our heritage, a gift in your Will can do the same.
