Each year, nearly 20,000 people – 1 in every 158 people in Wales – come to us for help. In 36% of cases, there are children in the home.
NO ONE SHOULD FACE HOMELESSNESS ALONE.
Since 1981, Shelter Cymru has helped more than half a million people fight for their rights, get back on their feet, and find – and keep – a home. We have also brought about policy and legislative changes that have helped countless more.
We provide free, independent, expert housing advice and support on the phone, online and face to face in all 22 unitary authorities in Wales; our front line services are available to all. We attend court to defend people at risk of losing their home. We provide specialist support services to help families keep their homes and we campaign to tackle the root causes of the housing crisis. Homelessness is averted in 96% of our cases where the outcome is known.
Legacy giving continues to support the crucial work carried out by Shelter Cymru, funding 1 in every 15 people last year alone, helping 1,328 people across Wales with housing needs.
Gifts of all sizes continue to enable us to provide free, independent expert support and advice to thousands of individuals and families each year. You can leave a legacy that creates better futures for generations to come.
