York Carers Centre is an independent charity dedicated to improving the lives of unpaid carers of all ages across the City of York. An unpaid carer is anyone who supports someone they know because of illness, disability, mental ill health, or addiction. Many carers do not see themselves as carers at all, yet their role can have a profound impact on their health, wellbeing, education, and finances. Our mission is to ensure that no carer feels invisible, unheard or alone.

We provide free, confidential, and person-centred support that is shaped around each individual’s circumstances. This includes practical advice, emotional support, and guidance on rights and benefits. Plus, peer groups, wellbeing activities, and opportunities to connect with others who understand. We also deliver specialist services for young carers aged 5 and above, and young adult carers. We offer age-appropriate support, youth groups, school-based sessions and one-to-one guidance. York Carers Centre works to create a city where carers are valued, supported and able to thrive.

By remembering York Carers Centre in your will, you help us start our legacy journey and shape a stronger future for unpaid carers across York. Your gift ensures carers receive the guidance, connection, and support to care for themselves as well as others. Big or small, every gift makes a difference.
